The United Democratic Party (UDP) has been at the forefront of the democratic movement in The Gambia since 1996, championing the rights and aspirations of all Gambians.
Our History
25+ Years of Democratic Leadership
Founded in 1996, the United Democratic Party emerged as a beacon of hope during one of The Gambia's most challenging political periods. Under the leadership of Lawyer Ousainu Darboe, the party has consistently advocated for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
Throughout our history, UDP has remained unwavering in our commitment to the Gambian people, even in the face of persecution and political intimidation. Our members and leaders have sacrificed greatly for the cause of democracy.
Today, UDP stands as the largest opposition party in The Gambia, with a proven track record of principled leadership and a clear vision for national development.
